Paper handmade by the artist (kozo), cedar, water, moss, stone
Size variable
This installation featured several pulp paintings and handmade paper artworks in a spacious storehouse gallery space. I was considering two ideas when making this work: 1. Summertime in the mountains of Echizen, those beautiful providers of the cold, fresh water used in papermaking, and 2. My return to this place after a 2-year gap, and after a transition to another environment and home.
Elements from other works make a reappearance: the stones from the “landscape” series (e.g., “shifting,” “recollecting,” “recollected”), and the ceramic roofing slope of “flow.”
