Nishino Heritage House, Japan
The Nishino Heritage House is a historic property with around three centuries of use. It was historically used to store a variety of goods that needed protection: miso, rice, and sliding doors for different seasons. Flow was a cascade of paper installed in one of the lower rooms of the Heritage House, and highlights the sparse, filtered natural light of the space. The papers are layered in a similar fashion to kawara roof tiles, mimicking the rooftop of the Heritage House, and inverting the hardened ceramic tile into soft, pliant paper.
